This section lists the major astrological organizations in the United States as well as other countries.


  • American Council of Vedic Astrology.
    The American Council of Vedic Astrology (ACVA) is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting the art and science of Vedic Astrology or Jyotish. The Council was founded in November 1993 and reached non-profit status April 5, 1995.
  • American Federation of Astrologers (AFA).
    Established in 1938, AFA is a worldwide membership and accreditation organization. The mission of AFA is to promote professionalism in all areas of astrology.
  • AORTA – Astrologers of The Real Tradition of Astrology.
    Based in Johannesburg, South Africa. AORTA meets the requirements of astrologers of The Tradition and promotes astrology to the media and public.
  • Association For Astrological Networking (AFAN).
    An organization dedicated to creating a network to provide information to the astrology community and link them together.
  • Association of Professional Astrologers International (APAI).
    The Association of Professional Astrologers International was formed in 1990 to meet the growing demand for professional work of the highest standard.
  • Association for Young Astrologers (AYA).
    AYA is committed to providing educational opportunities for anyone interested in astrology, with a focus on outreach to young people discovering astrology.
  • Astrological Association of Great Britain (AA).
    The AA of Great Britain was formed by a group of astrologers from the Astrological Lodge, which had been founded by Alan Leo in 1915.The AA organizes seminars and an annual conference. It also publishes the Journal Correlation, a journal of astrological research that has been in print for over 30 years. Its remit accords with the standard academic requirements that all submissions are peer-reviewed by suitably qualified experts in the fields of astrology, physics, statistics, etc. Astrological Association of Great Britain

  • Cosmobiology Research Foundation (CRF)
    Established in 1972, CRF is a non-profit, non-voting organization dedicated to continuing cosmobiology education and research.
  • Federation of Australian Astrologers (FAA)
    The non-profit Federation of Australian Astrologers was formed in 1971 to promote friendly contact between astrologers throughout Australia supporting the National Code of Ethics for astrologers; to conduct examinations; and to encourage and publish the results of research in the fields of astrology.
  • International Society for Astrological Research (ISAR)
    Established in 1968, ISAR is an international organization of professional astrologers dedicated to establishing high standards of quality in the astrology community. The promotion of research and creating a strong data resource base is a primary objective.
  • ISBA The International Society of Business Astrologers
    ISBA is the first International organization of professional business and financial astrologers.
  • National Council for Geocosmic Research, Inc. (NCGR)
    The NCGR is a non-profit providing education and research for the astrology community. There are over 40 chapters that are active throughout the U.S. and world.
  • Organization for Professional Astrologers (OPA)
    The OPA is a professional astrological organization dedicated to legitimizing, professionalizing, and promoting astrology as a spiritual, psychological, and holistic model.
  • The Scottish Astrological Association.
    The Scottish Astrological Association is a body formed in Edinburgh in 1974 to promote a deeper understanding of astrology in Scotland. We organise lectures and discussions every fortnight throughout most of the year.

The Astrology Dictionary. This website is designed to be a comprehensive online glossary for people who need to look up the meaning of a specific astrological term or concept.

Astrology News Service: In 2010, major astrology organizations including the International Society for Astrological Research (ISAR), the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR), the Association for Astrological Networking (AFAN), and the American Federation of Astrologers (AFA) began a discussion about the need to proactively improve astrology’s image by educating the public about astrology’s believability and value to society. The organizations agreed to work together to create the Astrology News Service (ANS), a non-profit news and information agency for the astrological community. In 2011, the Organization for Professional Astrology (OPA) joined the ANS. The RGCSA (Research Grants for the Critical Study of Astrology) is an independent research group, which has been set up to monitor standards of research in astrology and promote the use of sound scientific methods in empirical studies. The group aims to stimulate and facilitate the critical study of astrology as judged by the disciplines of social statistics, sociology, psychology, and cultural studies, and to provide the basis for inter-university and international collaboration on research into astrology.
