Classical Studies

This certificate covers different areas of classical astrology, including Horary, and Medical.

Horary Astrology is the art of answering questions, is a basic skill that all consulting astrologers can use to answer specific questions that the natal chart cannot address.

Medical astrology ranges from the astrology of a healthy lifestyle, to examining the chart for a medical event, to picking surgery times.

CS100: The Key to Classical Methods: Essential Dignities

Instructor: J. Lee Lehman

How do you determine which planet is stronger when looking at aspects? How do you quickly find the strongest planets in the chart? Or which planets may pose more challenges even if they aren't aspected or mainly have trines? Classical astrologers used essential dignities and debilities.These were their building blocks for interpretation.

In the history of Astrology there were five Essential Dignities. In the last two centuries, three of them have often been ignored, but in this workshop, we will present them in their entirety.

The workshop will be held on a weekend using an online conference service. Supplemental materials will be provided on the course website. This course is required for students wanting to take CS101 Horary and CS102 Medical.

Saturday and Sunday
10:00 am – 12:00 pm Pacific Time
(1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Eastern Time)

One hour break

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Pacific Time
(4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Eastern Time)

Students will have a short assignment to complete between the end of class on Saturday and the beginning of class on Sunday.

 

CS101: Classical Horary Astrology

You may have used natal astrology to tell that you are likely to move this year - but is the house you just looked at a good match? Your client's chart may show relationship issues, but is the guy she just met last weekend a prince or a frog? And what if your cousin's birth time is uncertain - he still has questions!

This course will give you the depth and experience to answer all of these questions - and many more!

CS102: Traditional Medical Astrology

There are correspondences between the physical body and the astrological chart. From ancient times to the Renaissance, medical doctors used these correspondences to help them in their practice. 

The purpose to this course is not to engage in medical practice as understood legally. But these traditional tools can help the astrologer  offer specialized services to their clients, mainly concerning the timing and circumstances of medical care provided by licensed practitioners.

  2. Hippocrates and the Homeopathy/Allopathy Debate
  3. Humors, Lifestyles and Wellness/ How to Use the Elements
  4. Vitality and Longevity
  5. The Body, Health and Disease in the Natal Chart
  6. The Spirit, Health and Disease in the Natal Chart
  7. The Houses and their Meanings & Uses.
  8. Parts of the Body Chronic Tendencies (Physical or Mental) and their Magnitude
  9. Crisis and the Development of Disease
  10. The Medical Master Piece.

This 10-week course includes a coursesite with weekly assignments, discussion forum and resource materials along with 90 minutes of on-line questions and exercises per week, on Tuesdays evenings from 5:30-7:00 pm Pacific / 8:30 - 10:00 pm Eastern

This is not an introductory course. CS100 Essential Dignities Workshop or equivalent is required.

CS103: Classical Mundane Astrology

This Course teaches the classical styles of mundane analysis, and then compares them with modern developments, allowing the student to work with both styles together in a meaningful fashion. The functions of Mundane astrology are
1. to understand the past and
2. to predict the future in order to
3. manage the present
