Instructors: Carol Tebbs and Jacqueline Menkes

The course introduces students to the basics of cosmological symbolism and applications developed in Western cultures and in current use. Beyond planets, houses, signs and aspects, 102 introduces students to natal patterns and chart points that clarify natal interpretation, such as: configurations, essential dignities, sensitive points, house systems, harmonics, asteroids, declinations, Moon phases and the natural cycles of outer planets. This course covers:

  • a comparison of methods in the development of modern astrological traditions;
  • a critique of several areas of astrological study including, systems of planetary interpretation;
  • a comparison of older and newer interpretive systems in current use; and
  • the process of natal chart synthesis and interpretation

Weekly topics include:

  • Comparing house systems
  • Finding planetary strength and working with essential dignities and debilities
  • An introduction to harmonics as the foundation of aspects, including an examination of the minor aspects
